6 Strategies to Grow a 7-Figure Nutrition Business
As nutrition and fitness professionals, we often focus on the hurdles and mistakes we encounter on our journey to success. While there were plenty of challenges during our time owning a busy nutrition practice in Central Queensland, we also achieved remarkable growth. Today, I want to share some key strategies that took us from a start-up to a 7-figure business in a short period—and how you can apply these principles to your practice. For a deeper dive into both our successes and failures, listen to our podcast by clicking here.
Let's jump right in!
1. Coaching and Business Communities: Your Key to Growth
Our most crucial decision? Engaging business coaches and tapping into powerful business communities. It was a game-changer.
After attending a random webinar by Dr. Peter Clarke, I realised the value of mentorship and guidance. It shaped our future as a business. Pete opened our eyes to the possibilities that we'd never even considered. The same happened when we joined Dale Beaumont’s Business Blueprint community. Today, we're still members, and the knowledge and networking opportunities we've gained have been invaluable. Surround yourself with people who challenge and inspire you, and you'll find your business thriving in ways you never thought possible.

2. Diversifying Locations: Reaching More Clients
Expanding our clinic locations across Central Queensland was pivotal to our success. It started as a necessity but became a strategic advantage. We went from one clinic to six locations, employing 10 dietitians. The key takeaway? If you want to grow your business, you need to diversify and be willing to take risks.
📌 Quick Tip: If you're in a rural or regional area, consider accessing grants to help you employ staff and grow your footprint It can lead to quicker growth and a stronger market presence. Learn more 👇
3. Leveraging Government Grants: Free Money, Anyone?
Yes, grants are available! We wouldn't have been able to grow without them. Stacey (my wife and business partner) discovered grants that allowed us to hire additional staff without the financial stress. There are many opportunities available, especially for small businesses in regional areas.
📝 Pro Tip: Connect with someone who specialises in securing grants. For us, it was Kim Yablsey from Growology. Find your own "Kim" and open the door to funding opportunities.
4. Writing a Book: A Credibility Game-Changer
Writing The Tweaking Diet took me out of my comfort zone, but it solidified my credibility as a dietitian. It led to presentations, media opportunities, and even a regular radio spot. The confidence I gained transformed how I approached both my business and clients.

5. Innovating with Technology: Efficiency is Key
Technology helped us scale our business while keeping overheads low. From streamlining clinic processes to integrating referral systems, the right software can save time and boost profitability. Our internal systems made it easy for clients to book appointments and for us to manage them efficiently.
⚙️ Resource: Look into clinical software solutions that automate workflows and save time for both your admin and clinical staff. We built our own as there was nothing available at the time that met our needs. If I was starting again, I would be using https://www.healthbank.io/
6. Building an Online Presence: Your Free Marketing Machine
We couldn’t afford ad agencies, so Stacey became our in-house Facebook ads expert. By building our own online calorie calculator and running engaging content on social media, we were able to significantly expand our reach. Today, Stace runs her own Facebook ads agency, helping other businesses all over the world grow like ours did.
đź’ˇ Action Step: Consider building simple, yet effective lead magnets, such as a calorie calculator, to boost your online presence and attract new clients. We can help you build an online calculator to get leads and grow your list. Click on the image below to see one in action.
Growing a 7-figure business is about more than just hard work; it’s about making smart, strategic moves. Whether it's engaging coaches, leveraging grants, writing a book, or diversifying your services, each step builds on the last.
